Reimagining Yale School of Art
in the World
:

The bi-weekly email digest of news from alumni, students, and faculty is now a location-filtered calendar & growing archive

Since 2017, Yale School of Art in the World has functioned as a bi-weekly email newsletter published during the academic year, as a means of both archiving and sharing all public exhibitions and publications featuring or initiated by Yale School of Art graduate alums, current MFA students, and current faculty and staff.

But in a post-COVID world of endless virtual meetings and emails, we want to provide this information in the most accessible way possible, so as of the Fall 2020 semester Yale School of Art in the World will function as both a calendar and an archive—updated throughout the year and all housed online here >> yaleart.org/intheWorld

Time-oriented submissions, such as exhibitions and events, take the form of a calendar—available to subscribe to, bookmark, or embed. Publications, articles, or other texts featuring or authored by SoA community members will be archived on wiki pages organized by academic year. Ongoing initiatives, longterm projects, and organizations are a new addition to this community archive, as we begin to chart the ways in which School of Art alums, faculty, and staff actively engage with and contribute to their communities.

As the Yale School of Art in the World Calendar functions as a public resource of a promotional nature, all are invited to subscribe this calendar to their preferred calendaring software by clicking the orange “Subscribe” button.

This calendar is both embedded on the School of Art in the World webpage, and accessible as a standalone, responsive webpage with calendar, list, and grid views available >> yaleart.org/intheWorldcal

In an effort to encourage active engagement with events and exhibitions, events on the calendar are organized by geographic location, and can be filtered based on your city using the "Filter" button in the top-left. Virtual events and exhibitions will be placed in orange and yellow respectively as all locations apply.

We'll send out regular reminder emails about this calendar and archive to ensure that everyone's been made aware of this change and what we hope will become a useful resource for engaging with the work and projects of fellow SoA community members.

School of Art graduate students, alums, faculty, and staff are invited to submit upcoming events or exhibitions, publications, and initiatives, to be added to the calendar or archive using the following Google Forms:

Submit an event or exhibition >>

Submit a publication >>

Submit an initiative or organization >>

Events, exhibitions, and publications featuring SoA community members prior to the initiation of this calendar are archived within past editions of the School of Art in the World newsletter—a complete list of which can be found at the bottom of the SoA in the World webpage.

If you have thoughts or feedback about the new calendar and archive system, we would love to hear from you! Please email us at SchoolofArtAlumni@yale.edu to share your thoughts.
