All Visiting Artist lectures of the Fall 2020 semester, conducted virtually over Zoom, can now be accessed in a new archive on the wiki. Seventeen lectures were hosted between September and November, with clips and segments from ten of those talks now available online.

Hosted on the School of Art’s YouTube channel and created in collaboration with each guest, the Fall 2020 Visiting Artist video archive documents events that were hosted alongside public virtual events within the School's Graphic Design Guest Speaker Series, as well as continuations of the Antiracism Speaker Series, and the Speak to Me series.

Staff & faculty updates

Departures, new roles, and faculty appointments

Clockwise from top-left: Desmond Lewis, Lecturer in Sculpture & Fabrication Shops Coordinator; Michael Fadel, Fabrication Shops Technician; Krista Dobson, Non-Clinical Counselor; Michael Nock, former Associate Director of Development.

With the 2020-2021 academic year, the Yale School of Art welcomed a new faculty member, Desmond Lewis, appointed as Lecturer in Sculpture—a role in which he's teaching two courses this spring while also serving as Fabrication Shops Coordinator at 36 Edgewood Avenue. Desmond joins Fabrication Shops Director and Lecturer Elizabeth Tubergen, who returned this fall from Berlin where she was an Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation Fellow and artist in residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. Michael Fadel, who received his MFA in Sculpture from the University of Arizona in 2013, also returned as Fabrication Shops Technician this fall, after first joining the shops team during the 2019-2020 academic year.

With the spring, the School of Art says farewell to Michael Nock who this month departs his role as Associate Director of Development to join Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects as Director of Communications and Business Development. At the same time, we're excited to welcome Krista Dobson, who has officially begun her new role as a full-time non-clinical counselor for the Schools of Art, Architecture, and Drama. Krista is now supporting students with short term mental health and wellness needs including, but not limited to, development of strategies related to time and stress management, conflict resolution, social and cultural belonging, and self-care.

School of Art alums are invited to submit events and exhibitions to be added to the new School of Art in the World calendar, as well as publications and initiatives to be archived on the wiki.

Members of the public are invited to subscribe to the School of Art in the World calendar, and visit the full wiki archive.
